Liedson Knocks Benfica Senseless

At the time of the Portuguese League round 20, the Lisbon derby was the big match of this week-end. It was the 144th derby of history and it was Sporting which won "away" 1-3 notably thanks to forward Liedson who scored twice (74’ and 82’). The best scorer of Portugal last season allowed his club to get closer to Benfica which are only three points ahead of Sporting.

Maritimo Funchal, eighth, received União Leiria, its immediate pursuer. Maritimo won easily three nil with a brace from Zé Carlos (61’ and 66’). Nacional won at home two nil against Gil Vicente, André Pinto was the first scorer at the 34’ minute.

From now on, FC Porto are four points ahead of Benfica and five of Nacional.
